Platypus Party

We've had a request from an avid reader (that would be Grandma) for a hiatus on posts regarding bodily excrement. In an attempt to keep the few readers we have, we'll oblige her and go back to posting about something much more pleasant: birthdays!

On January 23rd, Theia Pa Pa Peia turned TWO! We celebrated her birthday as a family because her party with friends got cancelled due to a stomach bug (sorry, Grandma) running rampant in our house (and that's all we'll say on the matter). By the evening of her birthday everyone was feeling well enough to enjoy some pizza, so I made each of the older girls their very own cheese pizza for dinner. As dinner was starting Grandma Mary & Grandpa Tim called on the computer to talk. We ate our pizza and chatted on Skype. Theia even got to open her present so her grandparents could see (a bubble machine for the bathtub!).

After dinner Theia worked on the rest of her presents.

There were stickers and coloring books from Grandma & Grandpa DeShon and Theia happily pasted everyone's heads, arms and legs with stickers.

We took some time for funny smiles for the camera (I know, I look exceptional).

Theia also received a pair of sunglasses from Xandra. Xandra picked them out all by herself.

Theia enjoyed wearing them on her head, just like she sees mama wear her sunglasses sometimes.

She received two picnic baskets. Xandra and her enjoy this because now they each have a picnic basket when they play.

She also received the second installment in the "Platypus Book" series. She got the first one for her first birthday. This year's book is about Platypus and the birthday party he throws for his toy platypus, Steve.

Both girls enjoyed reading the new book.

After a few more presents, we enjoyed some strawberry shortcake together. Actually, Theia only at the whipped cream, Xandra refused to eat any of it, and Joe and I happily scarfed our pieces down.

The real birthday cake came a few days later after quarantine from the sickness discussed earlier and which I've promised not to talk about on this blog post. Check back tomorrow for highlights from Theia's first crack at cake.
