Running on E

When Grandma DeShon was here last month, we opted to head into the city for a morning of sightseeing. After packing lunches and loading the car, we headed off to the metro station in the van. While approaching this very busy intersection at Georgia Avenue and Randolph Road, the van started to sputter and refuse to climb the hill. Evenutally, it died right in the middle of the turn lane.

Panic ensued. No, just kidding.

We decided to try for the easisest fix. Mom stayed with the kids in the van and I ran to a nearby gas station (thank goodness there was one nearby!) to beg for a gas can. A few minutes later I returned, put the gas in and we prayed for the best. The car, was in fact, out of gasoline. We had been having some trouble with lights and gauges on the dashboard, but it did not occur to me that would mean the gas gauge was no longer working.

Not my favorite start to a morning of sightseeing, but the kids were happy and the problem was fixed rather quickly. Since then, we've also had all the gauges and lights on the dashboard start working properly without having to go to the mechanic. Don't you wish car problems would always correct themselves, gas stations would always be on the corner when you need them, and children would always remain happy amidst a disaster?
