A Birthday Fit For a Platypus

Theia's 3rd birthday, on Sunday, January 23, was a fun and full day.  After church we brought our good friend Beth home to celebrate with us.

For lunch, all of the girls enjoyed a gourmet meal of macaroni and cheese.  After lunch, we put Aliyah down for nap and Theia, Xandra and Beth decorated Theia's birthday cake.

Theia chose candy hearts, M & M's and marshmallows for cake decorations.

They worked long and hard on their masterpiece,

and the final product was quite impressive.

Before opening presents, daddy entertained everyone for a few minutes.

After the juggling act ceased, Theia started tearing into her presents.

The best part is watching Theia's excitement.

She got books and stamps open first.

Our dear neighbor, Carol, came over for the afternoon, too.  She brought Theia a pillow pet.  Theia loved the pillow pet and the girls decided to name the pillow pet Rudolph because he has a red nose.

She also brought a wonderful book about animals that has masks inside each page.  It's a neat and special book.

One of Theia's gifts from us was a hopper ball.  The girls have been hopping all over the house with it since January.

Even daddy decided to give the ball a try.

After presents we all watched a Veggie Tales video together.  Xandra's Awana teacher gave her the video for Christmas and we saved it to watch for Theia's birthday.  This is the first time we've ever watched a video all together at our house.  The girls watch videos some at MOPS and other church events and we watched some Christmas videos together during the holidays when we were at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but this was a first for us at home.

Xandra was glued to the video the whole time and Theia got bored about halfway through and wandered off to play.

After the video, the girls played with playdoh hair cutting toy from Grandma Mary and Grandpa Tim and some of Theia's new stamps from Aunt Tami & Uncle Josh.

By this time Aliyah was awake and got to take part in some of the fun.

After an afternoon of fun, we made individual pizzas for dinner.

The girls love helping me cook.

They took their job very seriously.

After dinner, Beth's parents stopped by to pick her up.  They were just in time for singing,

candles, birthday cake, and ice cream.

Happy Birthday Theia Pa Pa Peia.
