In Farmer Joe's Garden: Tomato Edition

As farmer Joe's garden winds down for the summer, I thought we should update on the tomatoes. His beefy, Big Boy Tomatoes have been wonderful. We did get one salad complete with garden lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, and tomatoes. That is a gardening accomplishment!
We are still enjoying the tomatoes in a variety of ways; on pizzas, in salsa, and atop sandwiches and burgers.
We're also starting to see the squash and pumpkin harvest. We've harvested one beautiful hubbard squash and three small pumpkins. Most of our sqash/pumpkins have a ways to go, but this is the beginning.

Currently there is a pumpkin growing on our roof, two in our front yard, and one over the path to our backyard. Yesterday, Farmer Joe commented that his pumpkin harvest didn't look as promising this year. Yes, 8 pumpkins is a terrible harvest.
We've also seen the first flower on our slow-growing pepper plants. Maybe peppers are in our future if the freeze doesn't get them first.
On another note, we found a decaying raccoon amidst our pumpkin patch last week. Farmer Joe aka Dead Animal Controller removed it to the trash cans.
