Her Own Hands

2014

We were painting hands to make a present for grandma one minute.  The next minute I got interrupted.  The next minute Tikvah took matters into her own hands.

and  mouth.

Wide Awake

They wanted to listen to a music CD together at bedtime.

We said agreed to the fun and they all piled in the same bed.

At the end of the music, Xandra, Aliyah, Joey and Theia were sawin' logs.

Tikvah, the youngest, was eyes wide open.

King

King for the day.

Or at least for an hour.

Or maybe a few minutes.

This is the life.

Hey.  Where'd everybody go?

Or Two

2014

We have a "no candy until you're two rule at our house".

Evidently no one informed the 11 month old about this rule.

Not only was he eating a piece of candy, but

he had a ring pop and a piece of chocolate in his hands ready to go for when he was done with the first piece of contraband.

Its always good to have a back up.
Or two.

May Day Mystery

2014

The May Day tradition continues.

The baskets,

the popcorn,

the silliness,

the delivery,

the running,

the sneaking,

the fun, surprises and memories.
A few days after May Day, we woke up to six rubber ducks on our front porch.  An army duck, space duck, bunny duck, kung fu duck, doctor duck, and puppy duck were carefully perched on our porch waiting for us to open the door.  The kids were so surprised and excited.  They survived many months on our fireplace mantle.  We never uncovered the culprit behind this May Day mystery, but it remains a very fun memory.

Hindsight

2014

When Xandra was a baby, I cut one of the straps out of this highchair.  "We didn't need them anyway," I thought.  "Why do they even put them in there?  The guard on the bottom of the tray keeps the kids from falling out.  How silly."

And then we had Joey, who perfected the art of standing in the highchair.

And now we have Isaiah,

who not only stands, but dances.
And now I understand the need for straps.  Too bad I cut them out 8 years ago.  They sure would be handy right now.  If only my foresight were as keen as my hindsight.

Never Enough

2014

At two years of age, Tikvah has one obsession.  Baby Elora.

Each and every night of her two year old life she prayed that "Baby Elora come."

When "baby Elora come" the problem is that Tikvah can hardly get any time with her.

Everyone else wants to hold her, read her books and play with her, too.

I'm pretty sure the need to share Baby Elora, just prompts Tikvah's prayers all the more.  We can never get enough of Baby Elora around here.  And Tikvah's not the only one.

Unsuccessful

2014

Its an old Indian proverb:

Children tie the mother's feet.

At a very young age,

Isaiah has taken a very literal approach

to interpreting this proverb.

My attempts to redirect him have not proven successful.
